I captioned the headline as such because while this particular mat may work for me, it may not work for others.Like most, I purchased the mat to protect my hardwood floors. It arrived boxed well and when unrolled, it laid fairly flat. I put some heavy weights at the top and bottom corners to completely flatten out the ends and that worked well. The mat is not too thick, but it is definitely not thin either.Why this mat may not work for some has to do with the "rolling" space. My "rolling" space is small. I just need enough space to push away from my desk so that I can get out. I do not need to roll around a lot or cover a lot of space.The wheels on my chair "slide" more than "roll" on the mat. They do not roll the way they do on the wood surface. This is why I caution (and it could just be the wheels on my chair) that for me, I do not get that smooth rolling feeling on this mat, but again, it is not necessary for me. However, please keep that in mind. Otherwise, I could not be more pleased as it does exactly what I need which is offer protection to my floor.Shouldn’t be as expensive as it is but works as intendedIt seems kind of strange the when I walk on it and roll the chair on it without sitting on the chair, it leaves temporary marks on the mat. Then I lift the mat up and the marks disappear??? I will watch this a few more days to see if this issue "goes away" after it adjusts to the temperature of the office. If not, sending back to Amazon.So these mats are very thin. I got it for my computer chair in a new apartment, as to not damage the carpet. This mat moves around when you move, it's constantly shifting and I have to move it back. Seems to protect the carpet so far but this mat does not stay in place at all. Was on the cheaper side for mats so I wasn't expecting a lot, yet it was still a bit of a let down. This may be better to use on hard floor or thin carpet.I was hoping this would of been thicker than what it is. I put it where I needed it but it kept bubbling up when my wheels moved, so I bought rug holder (I have it under my other mat and it works great) but the rug holder did not keep the mat from bubbling up. DISAPPOINTEDOverall, it does its job but being used for hardwoods, I wish the material was thicker so it was more sturdy as mine moves a lot and gathers...I have to smooth it back out and reposition regularly.The mat came rolled up. That's fine. I unrolled the mat so that it would curl down towards the floor figuring it would flatten out over time. However, when I rolled over the mat with my chair (with plastic wheels), it made marks (trails) on the mat. So, I flipped it over so that she shiny side is facing up. I no longer had marks from the chair wheels, but now the mat is curling up on all sides. If I roll the chair too far, then the mat bunches up under the wheels. I am not sure how to make it lay flat... Other than that, the mat is fine.Update 3 weeks later. The mat still curles up on the sides. Horrible. I had hoped that by now it would lay flat. I almost bought 2. I am glad that I only bought one of the mats. I would never buy another.The plastic really needs to be a bit thicker. Over all it's doing what it should.I bought this as something to protect a vinyl floor in the kitchen - it’s where I work from until I get my office sorted. While I expect this product works fine on very hard surfaces it doesn’t help when your floor has any kind of softness. I should’ve done some research and bought something more rigid. They product comes rolled up and it takes time for it to settle, after two days it’s still curling up and not sitting completely flat.Like most other purchaser's, I found the great drawback to this product is the fact it is rolled up for delivery!In itself it is a very hard wearing, sturdy product, BUT, since it's whole purpose is to lie FLAT on the floor, it does not do its job! It has to be 'encouraged' to lie flat, in my case by the use of clear double sided adhesive tape. This is then seen through the 'clear' surface of the mat? Any amount of 'bending', 'twisting' and 'counter-rolling' does not achieve total flatness! A good product spoilt by its transportation to your door.It's okay. It constantly pulls up with the chair on top and following the role out instructions. It's like a mat under the chair that just keeps wrinkling and then the chair gets stuck. I wouldn't recommend or buy another one. It is thick but it's just annoying. I've even waited it down to try and stop the mat from wrinkling etc but it doesn't do it and it just keeps moving. Personally I wouldn't recommend and wouldn't spend the money on it as I don't think it's worth it.Unique design for easy movement and non-slip. This clear chair mat is smooth on one side and grinding on the other. Please put the smooth side facing down to help this desk chair mat stay in place. The grinding side allows your rolling chair to move easier but won’t slipThis is not true. slips all over the place causing rolls and fold ups, constantly slipping. Even used stick pads to stick to the hardwood floor, didnt helpgood quality and perfect for the job. I would recommend if you are on a carpet or on wood flooring. Makes the process easier.
